Central & Southwest China IoT Design Competition Kicks Off at Guizhou University

On August 15, the Central and Southwest China Regional Finals of the 2025 National Undergraduate IoT Design Competition officially began at Guizhou University. Hosted by the National Higher Education Computer Education Research Society and organized by GZU’s College of Big Data and Information Engineering, the event aims to foster talent and innovation in IoT-related fields.

Wang Xu, Vice President of Guizhou University; Qin Leihua, Deputy Director of the National Organizing Committee for the National Undergraduate IoT Design Competition and Member of the Ministry of Education’s Computer Science Teaching Guidance Committee; Luo Juan and Xie Mingshan, Deputy Directors of the Competition’s National Organizing Committee. Also present were representatives from the Academic Affairs Office of Guizhou University, the College of Big Data and Information Engineering, judging experts, and participating teams from various universities. The ceremony was hosted by Tian Youliang, Dean of the College of Big Data and Information Engineering.

In his speech, Wang Xu briefly introduced Guizhou University’s history and the significance of the National Undergraduate IoT Design Competition in today’s context. He encouraged guests to engage in in-depth exchanges during the event and explore broader collaboration afterward to jointly advance innovation in the IoT industry. He also expressed sincere hope for experts to provide valuable opinions and suggestions to support the university’s disciplinary development.

Qin Leihua, a representative of the organizing committee, emphasized that the competition focuses on inspiring creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among students. He praised the participants’ hard work and encouraged them to compete with skill and sportsmanship.  

Luo Juan, speaking on behalf of the judging panel, praised the innovation and practical skills displayed by the teams. She expressed hope that the contest would stimulate more students’ interest in hands-on learning and cultivate future IoT talents.

Zhang Xuelin, a student representative from Guizhou University, pledged on behalf of all teams to abide by the rules, respect every idea and effort, and engage in the competition with focus and an open mind.

Now in its 12th edition, the National Undergraduate IoT Design Competition is widely recognized as one of the most influential IoT events in China and is included in the national list of top disciplinary contests. This year’s regional finals feature 183 teams developing IoT, AI, and 5G-integrated solutions to address real-world challenges across various industries.
