On July 14th, the Guizhou Province 6th Student Games' "National Student Physical Health Standard" Testing Competition, jointly sponsored by the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, commenced at Guizhou University. Wu Pan, Vice President of Guizhou University, and Yan Wei, Investigator of the Provincial Department of Education, observed and provided guidance on-site.
The inaugural Guizhou Provincial Physical Fitness Test Competition assembled over 400 student athletes from across the region. Contestants, drawn from fifth grade elementary and eighth grade junior high, participated in events meticulously calibrated to the "National Student Physical Health Standards (2014 Revised Edition)" for their respective grade levels. The elementary school group faced tests encompassing anthropometric measures, cardiorespiratory fitness, flexibility, speed, agility, and muscular endurance, while the junior high division contested analogous measures alongside assessments of lower and upper body power, as well as aerobic capacity.

To guarantee the orderly execution and standardized accuracy of the competition, Guizhou University formed a task force of key faculty from the College of Physical Education. This group developed a comprehensive implementation plan, delineated stage-specific responsibilities, and rigorously deployed venues and maintained equipment according to national benchmarks, thereby ensuring operational stability. Furthermore, dedicated training was provided to selected sports instructors and volunteers, emphasizing regulatory adherence, real-time data recording, and transparent information dissemination, thus establishing a firm foundation for the fair and equitable administration of the event.
Yan Wei stated that they will continue to deepen such specialized competitions in the future, gradually expanding them to more schools and covering a wider area, to transform physical fitness assessments from a matter of mere compliance into an active pursuit of superior performance. The ultimate goal is to facilitate a sustained improvement in the overall physical well-being of young people across the province.
This provincial testing event provides a robust evaluation of youth physical fitness, demonstrably showcasing the implementation of the National Student Physical Health Standard and the integration of sports and education across diverse regions and schools. The authentic data gathered will inform evidence-based policymaking in provincial sports education, enabling optimized curriculum design and refined campus health interventions.
