GZU Hosts Reading Session on “Qingshuijiang Documents and Contemporary Local Economic and Social Development”

On the morning of June 11, Guizhou University (GZU) hosted a reading session themed “Qingshuijiang Documents and Contemporary Local Economic and Social Developmentatthe Mianxue Hall of the Academy of Chinese Culture, as part of the “New Era Initiative of Fostering Virtue Through Education” reading program. Key attendees included Yang Wei, Secretary of the CPC GZU Committee; Chen Yanbo, Vice President of GZU; Zhu Wei, Director of the Publicity Department of the Education Working Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee; and Wang Ya, Deputy Director (Acting Head) of the Guizhou Provincial Planning Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences. The event was chaired by Huang Cheng, Director of the GZU Library and Vice Dean of the College of History and Ethnic Culture.

Yang Wei shared her reflections with faculty and students, encouraging them to immerse themselves in reading and become active participants and pioneers of cultural innovation; to lift their gaze and engage with the wider world as ambassadors of cultural exchange; and to cultivate scholarship, allowing the fragrance of books to enrich both mind and spirit. She urged students to serve as practitioners of civilization and inheritors of culture, and to demonstrate the spirit of GZU youth in the pursuit of Chinese modernization in Guizhou

At the reading session, keynote speeches were delivered on topics such as the diversity and contemporaneity of the Qingshuijiang documents, their historical significance and archival value, and the cultural heritage system of the Qingshuijiang River Basin. Speakers included Yang Tingshuo, Tenured Professor and PhD Supervisor at the School of Humanities, Jishou University; Professor Zhang Xinmin, Honorary Dean of the Academy of Chinese Culture at GZU; and Professors Lin Qian and Yang Junchang from the College of History and Ethnic Culture at GZU. Faculty members from the College of History and Ethnic Culture, including Huang Cheng, Ma Guojun, Luo Zhengfu, Zhang Ming, and Luan Chengbin, shared their experiences in the collection, collation, and study of the Qingshuijiang documents. They engaged in lively discussions with students, exploring the historical wisdom and contemporary relevance embedded in these texts. Through reading and studying the texts, participants gained a deeper understanding of civilization and culture, and a richer appreciation of the historical legacy and lived experiences of the communities along the Qingshuijiang River.


This event was guided and organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC GZU Committee, the Office of Social Sciences, and the College of History and Ethnic Culture, and co-organized by the GZU Library and the Academy of Chinese Culture. Attending the event were leading officials from the Party Affairs Office, the Publicity Department, the United Front Work Department, the Student Work Department, and the Graduate Work Department of the CPC GZU Committee, as well as leaders from the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Social Sciences, the Academy of Chinese Culture, and the College of History and Ethnic Culture. Faculty and student representatives from the College of History and Ethnic Culture also participated.
